Milton student, throw any question at me!

Are you from the Berkshires? My family goes out there a lot and I really love it out there.

Perhaps you don’t love Boston, but have you been to Cambridge? It’s an awesome college town with a ridiculous amount of awesome things to do.

I’m not sure how Milton’s campus appears on GoogleMaps, but I can tell you how beautiful it is in person. We’ve got sprawling athletic fields, majestic academic buildings, and a couple brand new dorms. My dorm and my brother dorm were built in 2004 and are some of the most attractive buildings on campus.

I find Milton’s campus to be gorgeous, but you’d really have to visit it yourself.

How good is Milton when it comes to contacting home?

I’m not from the Berkshires, I’m from the lower Pioneer Valley, but I love it there too lol I want to move there one day… hah
I do like Cambridge though, BUBBLE TEA :p

Nice to know that the campus is gorgeous. Can you describe it though? B/c it seems that every BS has ‘majestic academic buildings’ and sprawling fields’ except for maybe a few.

Could you specify what you mean by ‘contacting home?’ I’m not quite sure what you mean.

Ahh, I love the bubble tea shop in Cambridge! My ‘Big Sister’ in the dorm introduced me to it last year. Well Milton’s campus is on two sides on Centre St., a common thru way for people in the town of Milton. There are tons of crosswalks and all the cars drive quite slowly through the area. One side houses the library, old, medium, and brand new Science buildings, the Math Department, Modern Language department, Performing Arts building, and the Middle School. The other serves as a home to the History department, second library, Classics department, English department, Student Center, Admissions department, the main dining hall, and all dorms. It may sound crowded but these buildings are spaced by tons of athletic fields and quads.

Well I meant like what do they look like? Are they colonial? Are they gothic? What? And how spread out? like SPS spread out or NMH spread out if you know what I mean?

I’m glad you know the wonders of bubble tea >} whenever I’m in the area I have to gt some somewhere :)

The style is really just classic New England boarding school. The pictures aren’t lying, I highly encourage you to check them out.

For the most part, the buildings are pretty close to each other since we have only 5 minutes to get to and from classes.

I’ve never seen SPS or NMH but if you’re considering Milton, you should really stop by and visit.

Sorry that was vague…Umm I have heard that at some boarding schools, students do not really have time to contact their families in between breaks. In your experience, how often have you or your friends been able to contact their families

Don’t even worry about that. You can talk to people at home any time you’d like. Just preferably not during classes…

by i couldn’t tell by the pics i meant- there were like 3 pictures of the campus in the viewbook/online. and what do you mean by classic NE? Like Colonial Architecture with lawns on which some guys are playing football while someone studies on a blanket in the background? I can kind of see what you’re getting at if that’s it…

I’ve been accepted to Milton Academy and I’m just wondering what dorm life is like over there. Does it take long to adjust to??

Hey feifei, you’re Chinese, right? Nice to meet you~

yea, nice to meet you to!

LOL I guess I need to make a thread for Chinese applicants. Now—we have…like ten or more?

Sorry for being off-topic!

(keep throwing questions at Milton students!)

is it easier to get accepted to milton for 9th or 10th grade. Do students from milton go off to schools like MIT and Columbia

Generally, schools accept more 9th graders than any other grade. But they have more applicants to 9th grade, and leave space in the class for new sophomores. It’s very common to enter prep schools as a sophomore!

Hi miltonian! I’m an incoming milton student and I will be entering Class 3. I have few questions about the residential life there. What are the guy’s dorms like? What do you need to bring? and which house is a better choice?
