Mini-prank at the Game

Did you guys know that we pulled a mini-prank on you at the Game today? Instead of saying "Veritas," the Harvard shields on either side of "Harvard University" on the scoreboard spell out "Huge Ego."

well, why dont u go read a harry potter yalie.....

Wiki Link to the 2004 prank: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yale's_%22We_Suck%22_Prank

And the official site: http://www.harvardsucks.org/

By the way, Ginny, if you have to explain what prank you pulled to the other side, it wasn't a prank.

actually someone CAN pull a prank, but the other side is too stupid to realise it.

That's nothing! We once spelled out "INFER-IORI-TYCOMPLEX" on the Yale shield. And yes, for you Yalies skilled at higher math, that is an extra two letters in each "word," but we used our Harvard ingenuity to make it work. ;)

Btw, did you happen to notice the prank that Princeton pulled on Yale last weekend, painting seats in the Yale Bowl black and orange? Unfortunately, Yale didn't find it too amusing. According to Yale College Dean Peter Salovey, "We don't consider it a prank, however, but an act of vandalism." Peter, where's your sense of humor?

http://www.yaledailynews.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=34326

"actually someone CAN pull a prank, but the other side is too stupid to realise it."

It's also possible for someone to pull a prank that's just plain too unnoticable to have any impact. Who can read the letters on the shield on the Harvard scoreboard? They're kinda small.

No, I mean, I'm impressed, I'm just amused that Yale has to jump up and down to call attention to its prank. Yale never did get enough attention...

I find it amusing and am shocked that these rivalries between the TOP schools have a truely hateful sentiment, rather than a joking/fun sentiment.

This is all in good fun. People at these schools have great respect for one another.

The Princeton "prank" was different. It'll actually cost Yale money to re-paint the seats blue. That's not funny. Pranks should be aimed at wounding pride, not damaging property. Yale pranksters never damage Harvard property.

Actually, the fact that I'm jumping up and down calling attention to the prank doesn't translate to the larger Yale community. Most Yalies don't care this time around whether Harvard students realized the prank. The pranksters who pasted the letters onto the shield meant the prank more as a private joke among Yalies, or else the letters would have been made darker and more visible.

"This is all in good fun. People at these schools have great respect for one another."

Ah, I hope that's true. Some CC'ers from both schools sure don't demonstrate or reflect that :P
