What are the minimum percentiles needed to get taken seriously in admission?

<80 if not Asian <85 if Asian.

There is no minimum, but the higher you get the better.

This is SSAT, but you get the idea. http://www.andover.edu/Admission/Pages/FrequentlyAskedQuestions.aspx

Why not use the school’s average SSAT percentile as a proxy?

Im not sure but do you think an average of 70 percentile GPA 3.7 is good for an asian to be considered properly because my essays and EC’s are quite good

70th percentile is well below the avg test scores at Choate & Andover.
<a href=“Boarding Schools with the Highest Average SSAT Score (2023)”>Boarding Schools with the Highest Average SSAT Score (2023);

The kids who get in w below avg test scores often have some compelling “hook”, e.g., URM, recruited athlete, development case

At Choate, 65-75%+ if you are full pay or an outstanding athlete/special talent, 85%+ if you require financial aid. Andover would be around 94%+ regardless. obviously, these are rough numbers and are not scientific. each case is different.

First of all, Andover’s average is like 92nd percentile, so they don’t accept only 99 percentile people. As I have said before there is no minimum because it really depends on the person.
