So I've been wait listed for the guthrie BFA proram. Just wondering if anyone had any idea on how high my chances are, or if they know how many get waitlisted out of the 60 from the callback. 20 get accepted.

I am also interested in this - I’m on the wait list too. I have a friend who is in the progam now (freshman) and she said that about half of her company (20 students) started on the wait list. Not sure how many of the 60 or so callback students go on waitlist vs getting a firm “no”.

hey guys,
i’m in the sophomore company and a good number of people in my class were from the wait list…i would say a little less than half of us came off the wait list? it changes from year to year though. the current jrs only have 2-4 who were originally on the wait list–that’s what i remember being told by one of them when they housed me for call back weekend.
just sit tight and there’s a good chance of you getting in!
and i think every year there are about 10-15 who get wait listed aside from the 20 who get accepted…and then they slowly accept kids through the wait list when one of the accepted kids declines. and it’s kinda random what hey choose from it…it’s not like they choose a similar “type” to the person who declined. it’s more of who will fit best in the already existing group of students they’ve accepted as the program is so company/ensemble based.
feel free to pm me for questions! wondering if i met some of you guys over the weekend…

A boy from my daughter’s school got into Carnegie Melon and will probably go there. He also got into Guthrie- so that should free up a space. Good luck!

Sweet! Haha thank you. And thank you for the info and advice ccer2014

When did you get accepted off the wait list for Guthrie Congtratulations! Are you going? Do you know of others who have been accepted off the wait list recently?

people getting in through the wait list all hinges on what the already accepted students do decision wise in the summer. some kids may put in the security deposit but change their mind for many different reasons. UK schools don’t accept people until summer I believe…and in my year for example, someone in my class was in final callbacks for a national tour and I made the final callback for a show here in SoCal that would have had a year long contract. Neither of us ended up getting cast, but we were very close to contacting the faculty to ask for deferrals. I know someone in my class got accepted sometime in June or July.
I would say that the incoming class is still not set in stone. It is past May 1, but sometimes the kids in the class are waiting to hear from the schools that have wait listed them. When kids get into another school through the wait list, decisions can easily change.

I was on the waitlist at Minn/Guthrie and got a call from them around April 23-24 and was offered a spot for next year. I ended up turning it down because I’m going Rutgers. I let MN know that I picked Rutgers on May 3 so they may still be in the process of working on the class.
