Hi,

I am debating between Yale and Princeton. I noticed Yale has an awesome minority recruitment program. Are there such programs for Princetonians?

As a black person, I can tell you that Princeton has a lot more resources for African-Americans than Yale does. My final decision was between Yale and Princeton. The whole residential college system at Yale isolates students from other students. I noticed that many ppl at Yale hung out with mostly ppl who lived in the same residential college. It is too much. This really has a potential to isolate minorities, who often find it harder to adjust at top universities like Yale and Pton.

At Pton, everyone: white, black, latino, etc. seemed to be more cohesive as a student body.

As far as minority programs, Pton has a summer program for admitted students where 40 students get to come and take 2 classes at Pton. It allows them to get acquainted with higher learning and they get to make friends with their peers. It is very beneficial for minorities who may come from underachieving schools, schools that are often plagued with underqualified teachers who lack teaching credentials.

Probably didn't answer your question but.......

I currently go to Princeton and I really enjoy and, what made me turn Yale down was basically the same thing KING said. I think Princeton is has the overall best minority recruitment program.. Good luck at Princeton it will be fun!!

How do you go to Princeton yet still manage to be a part of the HS class of 2007 and take AP tests? (see previous posts by NeuroSurgeon3201). Just wondering :)

Well, ok, thank you.

I didn't see any information on the Web site. I found a bunch of info for hispanic people at La Casa...

Thank you for the replies.

Hey King are you referring to that Freshmen Scholars Institute Program? How is that program? It is beneficial? I heard it was a program for minorities and athletes, is that true?

In Yale's defense, La Casa and the Af-Am house are very open and inviting. So is the AACA (Asian-American Cultural House). All regardless of race.

The residential college system has its drawbacks, but I feel it has more successes. I do not understand why people would say that it increases racial segregation - in fact, by forcing students to have tighter bonds with other residential college students, it increases racial diversity and makes the campus feel like a smaller community. In my suite, for example, there was me - of Chinese descent - two indians (one from new york and very Americanized, another from Mumbai), a black guy from Florida, a white guy from the South (Tennessee), and another white guy from the Northeast. We're all good friends.

In my music group, there's a black guy, two latinos, a white guy, a jewish guy, and myself.

For a while, I dated a hispanic girl.

I really don't see racial segregation as an issue unless you, yourself, make it one.

damn that is what the US is so powerful for... the diversification with assimilation. sounds cool. I heard about La Casa...

hmm..

thanks. :)

ecwasmyhome sums up my feelings exactly.

This conversation should go to the Yale Board!!!!LOL

Princeton is supreme
