Minors in Undergrad

Is it looked down upon to choose a minor not related to your major? Will that affect admissions decisions?

Not at all! Most people do minors for that very reason–an interest in something that’s far from their major.

There’s no reason even to mention a minor in y our college applications.

Okay, thanks! @aoeuidhtns

What if it shows that you want to peruse one of your extra curriculars in college? I have been very dedicated to art, as shown through my activities, and want to minor in it, but it has nothing to do with my future career/ major @Chedva

I am not sure minors are that big a deal. I always thought of them was supporting the major if you plan to do graduate work or exploring personal interests. (Shakespeare by s special education major) It might be useful to think about how art contributes to you and he relationship of art to your major or professional plans.
