Miracle products

I like O’Keefe’s because it doesn’t feel greasy.

Kerasal foot treatment, works right away, I put socks on over it. I need to get my first pedicure of the season but need to use it a couple of times first.

As for skin care products, I really like Trader Joe’s retinol serum.

I use it at night before moisturizing and it has helped reduce my skin’s recent tendency for flushing, sensitivity to everything and just burning sensation. A friend recommended it and I thought it would make my problems worse but it actually has helped a lot. Sunscreen is a must during the day.

Have you ever used Tretonin or other retinoids? I use Tret mixed with moisturizer around my eyes. I use a very low dose and can feel it tightening my eye area.

It is a powerful product, and a little goes a long way. Sunscreen and hats are a must if you use retinoids.

Related to eye cream - Be careful!
I have used the same eye cream (Clinique Smart Custom Repair Eye Treatment) for years. I started using retin-a within the last year. I also use both a day and a night moisturizer.
Several weeks ago, my eyes swelled up overnight. It actually happened a couple of different times before I started thinking “this is more than just regular allergies.” It took me quite some time/different attempts at products, to figure out it was my eye cream. It was the last thing I thought likely.
Much of the swelling is gone now, but the tops of my eyes are still very wrinkly from the allergic reaction. I am hopeful it goes away…

Has anyone ever used a cleaning product called Pink?

I use it. It was originally prescribed for rosacea. Not sure it helps, but I don’t see much benefit around my eyes - still have undereye bag/circles ;-( Maybe they would be worse without it? I do notice it seems to help control age spots from sun damage .

I bought some within the last year. It’s kind of a good multi-use cleaner. Does great in our sink where I might usually use soft scrub. Have used it for toilets. Non-abrasive it seems. It’s like a thick paste. Would be good for outdoor furniture like patio tables, etc.

Yes, lots of retinoids over the years. None of them make me 18 again. Sigh. That’s the product I’m looking for.

I was hoping the hive here had already found it.

@ChoatieMom , just wear glasses. You won’t be able to see your eyes when they are off, and if those glasses have attitude, everyone will be looking at those instead.

Have you tried Upneeq? It isn’t a cream for wrinkles but is a drop that helps lift eyelids. It works amazingly well. It is prescription so you need to talk to your optometrist about it.

Thanks for the warning about Clinique’s eye treatment. I hope your skin recovers. Unfortunately, mine did not after a similar incident a few years ago following the use of an Estee Lauder under eye cream. I’d never had a skin reaction like that. A few rash/redness responses, even cracked skin on my hands from MI/MCI in some hand soaps and other products, but never swelling. I felt like it aged me a decade overnight.

Sadly, I’m allergic to sulfites, which is a common preservative in skin care and RX. I have to be very careful. I pretty much avoid most things on my face—too risky for me.

Please be careful about using skin creams and treatments not intended for eye areas on your eyelids. The skin area around the eyes is somewhat different from the skin on your face.

Old school product that’s our new “miracle” product: Vaseline. I mean just the old school petroleum jelly, not the brand’s lotions. It was recommended by my doctor to use instead of polysporin after Mohs. I didn’t know it’s non-comedogenic, so I’ve been using it more often on my face, too.

In addition, Vaseline jelly on a paper towel has been one of the few things that helps remove the excess adhesive left behind from Rx patches. Skin So Soft and baby oil help also, but I prefer Vaseline.

@Silpat this is a little off topic…but I agree that Estée Lauder isn’t a miracle product. I used an under eye concealer, and whew…what swelling. I have never had that issue with Clinique.

As mentioned elsewhere, this product wiped out a giant swarm of carpenter ants that decided to descend on our house! I placed a dish with the gel right where they congregated making sure no pets would get into it… the ant army was GONE.
