I know that McAfee is FREE once freshmen hit the campus. But what about Microsoft Office? Does MHC provide Microsoft Office to its student free of charge as well? Does Microsoft Office provide students with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Powerpoint?

You’ll need to purchase Student MS Office Suite. You can find it at the Smith College computer store, online, or at your local computer store–Best Buy, etcetra.

Here’s a great deal.

[Microsoft Office Discount for US Students -The Ultimate Steal- Office 2007 Software for $59.95](http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-us/default.aspx)

Also, if you have just recently purchased a new laptop, chances are that it comes with a Microsoft Office CD to install.

Office is an additional purchase at many computer stores. Best Buy in Hadley, for one.

Ditto for Apple.

D’s laptop came with a trial version of Office that can be made permanent by paying a fee online to microsoft.

Student version is probably a better deal.

Good point. Student versions are the way to go. Best Buy does have many computers preloaded with a 60-day trial version of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

Computers bought through MHC (Smith computer store) charge $75.00 for Office (not preloaded) and you receive the disc for future use, should you need to reinstall. Or $129.00 for a three user disc.

If you buy a computer from the Apple store, there is no choice. You have to buy Office suite separately.

A MHC student I know had a good suggestion. She found another student (Facebook I believe) who had the Office CD for three computer use and paid a small fee to download the suite.
