Misled by Academic Advisor

I am seeking advice on a predicament that I’m currently in. I attend a public university, but I transferred in with many college courses from high school. This allowed me to complete my bachelor’s degree in three years, as opposed to the usual four. I am in my last semester of school, and just recently my academic adviser notified me, and he told me that I may not be graduating in May. This is due to his recommendation on taking a particular class, when it actually did not meet the “upper level engineering” requirements of the class he substituted it for. I had the time in my schedule to take another course, but due to the short notice it is now too late to add the needed course.

He is currently investigating and looking to see if he can get me to graduate in May. If not, then I will be forced to attend the fall semester for a three credit hour class. I have several job offers lined up (including my absolute dream job), but I cannot help but feel as if they will completely lose interest in me due to this sudden mishap.

Is there anything I can do within my power to help me graduate in May? If I am forced to graduate in December, is there anything I can do to hold onto my dream job until I graduate?

Is it possible for you to take it during the summer term?

No it’s not possible. It is only offered in the fall.
