Try to get your GPA over a 3.0. I think you can. In which case, there will be plenty of options for you to choose from with your super SAT score.
One oft overlooked strategy is spring entry. Schools (typically large state schools) will offer conditional admission or direct admission to students in the spring semester that are not good enough for fall admission. This helps them fill classes while not compromising their stats, which are aggregated for the fall entrants only.
If you can, find a good college counselor. It will be money well spent. Reddit has some really good ones. Just need to do a little more work. You will be fine.
Iām not saying you have to go there - just make the option by applying there, to the CUNYs that are commutable for you, and that have the majors that you want, and that you can get into. Itās the best option for you, from what youāve described, far better than a community college or a lesser SUNY college or a less selective private school (unless they were to give you HUGE merit money, which is very unlikely).
No healthcare transition. Low financial risk. Fewer responsibilities. Fewer distractions.
