Missing activities on the common application - what to do???

I forced my son to quickly get his applications done and submitted early this week before the mass piles that they would receive by early action deadline dates. In doing so we realized that we missed several activities and achievements that should have gone on his resume that would help define him as a student/person. They include partaking in 4 school plays where he was chosen for assisting lead roles, played Trombone for 2 years in the school band (although band will show up on his transcripts) and he received a Student Athlete Award last year (for playing 3 sports and maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA - which could be assumed by the resume). His Guidance Counselor thinks that it’s no big deal and that if he gets waitlisted at any of his schools that he should send this supplimental list in to them. I called 1 of his choices and they thought we should fax it in.

What is the right thing to do? I don’t want them to think that we forgot because we were weren’t being thorough.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It’s probably not a huge deal. Since these aren’t his only awards, he’ll be fine. If you are waitlisted add it as a supplemental later. Adding it on now almost seems as if they were not important and your having second thoughts about your app.

These activities aren’t just resume-builders (Who’s Who Among American High School Students), they’re genuinely something you were involved in and recognized for so I’d submit them to your schools. It probably won’t make a big difference but I don’t think it can hurt. Might as well be proactive and try to avoid the waitlist.
