Dear MartiniGirl1717,
Thanks for your kind comments. Like you, my mom thought I would come across as a solid student who really pulled herself up and would have a chance. I had been emailing the band director too, because band is serious with me, not so much in a competitive musical way, but because it lets me show my school spirit and be involved in a group that has a blast together. In his last email, their band director was excited to learn that I will switch to the tuba for this fall and said they need tubas more than anything. Ah well, too bad he didn’t tell Admissions that they needed me!

I don’t know where I’ll end up yet. Tomorrow Dad is taking me to see Wisconsin and Indiana. He ignored my mom’s advice to go up tonight, spend the night with relatives up there, see Wisconsin on Friday, drive to Indy where we have dear friends living, and see Indiana on either Saturday or Monday before flying home. Nice and relaxed to get a good idea what they’re like. NOT. Dad and I go tomorrow morning, see Wisconsin, drive to Bloomington, IN for the night. Saturday we see Indiana and drive back to Chicago for our return flight home. Should be very interesting to see how he copes with his self-induced stress! I may count the times he cusses! Seriously, I am thankful that he’s taking me at all, and even a small glimpse is better than nothing. How sure is your son about Tulane? My sister had a high school friend go there and right after she moved into her dorm freshman year, Hurricane Katrina hit and they evacuated. She studied at SMU in Dallas until Tulane reopened, but she liked it a lot there once she got to stay. Good luck to your son!!! Hope you enjoy your visit there on Tuesday!
