If I were a resident would like to know exactly where the state would get the money - income tax, sales tax, property tax, cigarette tax?

All of this just encourages people to overstay visas.

There was a student who posted a short time ago. His family came here on vacation, visited family here, then left him here to go to high school for a couple of years to get instate rates. There is something wrong with this.

My concern is more about our making a mockery of our own immigration laws. To entice, encourage, reward those who get through the roadblocks we put (including armed guards at the border) is ridiculous, IMO. How can we expect others to obey our laws when the pay off is so great once those who break them get to a certain point? It’s a cruel thing to do, IMO. It encourages many to come here, thinking the roads are paved with gold. The messages are ever so mixed. It’s not those who are here illegally, that bother me. I don’t blame them one bit. Heck, I’d have done the same in many scenarios. It’s the way our crazy laws are about all of this. There are many who have gone through the process looking to come here legitimately, and we make it very difficult for them and reward the line cutters… We are encouraging people/children trafficking, rewarding the “coyotes”. Makes no sense to me.
