My son made a mistake on the Common Application in reporting his SATII scores. On two tests he reported 780 but he actually got 770 on both. College Board is sending his scores so they will be officially reported but should he acknowledge this error to all the schools he applied to in a letter? It was just a mistake but it is hard to know how the schools might react.

I'd suggest that he send an e-mail so that they know the mistake wasn't deliberate.

I would definitely send an email, pronto! Just a one liner, no big explanation, just "score reported as 780 in error, was actually 770. sorry" Removes any appearance of impropriety.
