Mit Alumni Interview

dude my interview was for 2 hrs, is that UNUSUAL?

it went way well though! it turn into a conversation rather than shooting questions back and forth. he's awesome

"Recent statistics show that prospective MIT students who have interviews with "educational counselors" are 2.3 times more likely to be admitted than those who don't. Scheduling face-to-face interviews with thousands of candidates is impossible for the admissions personnel, whose calendars are already jam-packed, so MIT dean of admissions Marilee Jones relies on more than 2,100 alumni volunteers around the world to meet with prospective students. The reports these educational counselors provide can have a huge influence on whether a student is offered admission or not."

however i dont know how it affects you if you are not able to have an interview

If your interview lasted two hours, that's a sign it went well. :)

You clearly had enough to talk about, and your interviewer was receptive to what you had to say. I guess they found you interesting - congrats! :)

My interview is in 3 hours!! I'm so nervous! Any last minute suggestions?

Yes. Just be yourself. Use the questions your interviewer asks as opportunities to work your interests and passions into the context of your answers, or something :)

I'm hearing from all these people that their interview was an hour and a half, two hours, etc.! I just did mine and it was almost exactly one hour. Is it ok?

I don't know, I'd be a little worried...

JUST KIDDING

You are fine.

yea mine was an hour too... It seemed like it was alright.
nothing special

LOL, I love you BEBEBEBEBERE!

:-P

Only 7 left, huh?

staticsoliloquy: didnt u go to RSI??

Yup, ONLY 7. :P Are there any other smilies besides :) and :(?

I was somewhat rash last year, and just showed up in a t-shirt and jeans (I think I was still wearing the chain for my wallet). It went well though - I'm certainly not complaining now.

All I can manage is :) and :(.

This new CC seriously needs to get its act together.

I miss the old smileys.

what kind of stuff should you bring to the interview?

I have no idea.
My EC told me that I don't need to prepare anything, bring nothing even my resume. What do you guys suggest me to take to the interview? Just my brain?

Mine will be on this Friday, inside a bookstore.

If you can't remember it without a piece of paper in front of you it is not important enough to you, and not important enough to the interviewer, to talk about...so don't worry about bringing anything!

hmm...my interview lasted 45 minutes...hope that is not a bad sign.

I brought an activity sheet + a notebook (in which I wrote absolutely NOTHING)...

should i bring a semi-resume(like a list of activities i've involved in)??

did you bring yours?

Were your EC's very distinguished/famous people?
