MIT and CalTech are big reaches for you. Most of their applicants have at least a 750 on math on the SATs and many have an 800 in math II. Furthermore, you don’t have any outstanding awards/achievements/etc in math or science or the like that would make you stand out among an applicant pool that contains winners of international science and math competitions and kids who have their work published in science journals.

summer after junior year…apply to summer research programs for highschoolers at ANY prestigious university you can find. The kind where you fly out there for two weeks then come back. Focus on keeping your grades up and study hard for your second SAT and your subject tests. Those might make or break you.

I assume big reach is a nice way of saying practically impossible

And yeah I’m gonna study my butt off for the next SAT. I’m almost positive I can get over 2100 but is there a certain score it would be helpful for me to have? (And don’t say 2400 lol, I mean like realistically for me, thanks)

^2450. Anything less and there’s a decent sized chances you’ll be rejected from MIT and Cal Tech and Stanford.

A 2100 would definitely give you an edge at UCLA and a decent shot at UCB.
A 2200 wouldn’t make you competitive at Caltech MIT or Stanford, but you’d have a shot. Decent chance you’ll get into 1 of the 3.
A 2300 Would most likely get you into MIT Cal Tech OR Stanford. (A 780-800 math would definitely help with MIT and CalTech).

When you retake SATs, shoot for that 800 in Math, since you said you can achieve it! (Though practice tests are often a bit different from actually administered ones, it’s a good pinpoint.)

I’m not sure what you mean by 690 CR, 620 Reading? Which one’s writing?

I’d say shoot for 2250-2300 to have a better chance. Good luck to you. :)

Woops, it won’t let me edit right now but it is 690 CR and 620 writing (I’m very bad at finding the mistakes in the sentences).

Alright thanks, a 2200 is probably a realistic aim for me. Yeah I feel confident with my math, 2 wrong answers lowered me to the 720 and I think I can do better this time, I know a high math really helps with MIT.
