MIT will use the scores that put the student in the best light, and not consider the rest. True story.

adrivit, the final score list is seen from the collegeboard report, so don't worry

Question:
I am a junior in high school and have been fully enrolled at a community college for two years. I am relatively unworried about my test scores and transcript, but I'm really just curious about this: Although I am "good" at math and science, it is not my passion. I plan to major in Business or Political Science. My main extracurricular is being an international award winning harpist. Yet, I am afraid my lack of interest/extracurriculars in math and science will be a negative on my application. Does anyone know whether MIT will consider this a flaw?

I have a GPA of 4.11 and SAT score of 2010/2400(1460/1600) and 1440(P:- 680 ; M :- 760). I want to improve my SAT writing and my SAT II scores. So I though about taking the ACT's instead of Jan SAT's and take SAT II in Jan
Question: Will MIT accept the Feb. 8 ACT scores?
thanx in advance

Honestly, I wouldn't retake it just to improve your writing. Heck, I got in EA with a 610 writing :)

From previous page

Maybe.

From MIT's website:
"Winter Weather Problems • We are aware that many RA applicants in the northern United States will be impacted by the severe winter weather which has caused school closings, rescheduled ACT testing, and loss of power and internet access. MIT Admissions will be flexible to these circumstances, and we send our thoughts to those affected."

February scores will almost certainly arrive too late for consideration -- MIT goes into selection committee around Valentine's Day every year.

HI I am an international applicant applying from INDIA
I have a SAT I score of 1840(M:-750;R:-540;W:-550) and SAT II 1440(P:-680;Level II:-760) Toefl:-105
Question:-should I take SAT I to improve my R and W or should I take SAT II to improve my Physics

^MIT doesn't look at writing

Hey pappajones,

You should neither take the SAT subject tests nor the Reasoning test, in my opinion. Your toefl SCORES strongly DEMONSTRATE your english proficiency so no need to take the Writing or Reading test; MIT's requirement for TOEFL scores is 90 on the iBT but you have 105, which is certainly good. Your Physics score is also good and demonstrates your physics learning.

JUST GO AHEAD AND APPLY!

Office of Admissions
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Room 3-108
77 Massachusetts Avenue
Cambridge, MA 02139-4307
(617) 253-3400

Is this the address all the application materials are supposed to be mailed to? This sounds stupid but my Teacher was really confused so I decided to drop this here. Nevermind!

Indeed, that's the address. :)

my.mit.edu is currently being upgraded and I can't submit my application online. Will it be back up before the deadline?

The message on their site implies that.

"The MyMIT web site is unavailable due to some temporary technical issues. The issues are being worked on and should be resolved shortly. Please check back again soon to continue with your application. We apologize for any inconvenience."

If you want to know more I would be tempted to call,

I would be willing to bet the site will be back up before the deadline.

In the past, when there have been website issues around the time of the deadline, MIT has extended the due date to ensure that everybody has a chance to complete his or her application -- I'm sure they will do this if the site is down for an extended period of time.

I know I'll sound like an idiot for saying this, but I just realized mollybatmit = Molly B at MIT. I used to think Batmit was your surname... smacks forehead
