Yes! Setting it up now is acceptable =D.

My interviewer is a '68 alum, so ... will he be bit a orthodox or conventional? I guess this is the wrong thread to ask, isn't it?

Not sure.. mine EC was a '90
my friend's dad is a '82
...
but... 68'???
must be over 60 years old... shouldn't be bad. but if you are uncomfortable, you are wait a bit. they generally update the system and switch the ECs around. Or if you are really desperate to not have an old EC, you can call them to switch... but shouldn't really be a problem. If he is interviewing at that age, he must really like MIT.

Ya .. even i thought so that he must really really like MIT, if he's giving time at this age! I ain't fretting. I will get to know about 68's MIT, which will be awesome!!

Is there a preferred method of paying for the application fee? Are we supposed to send it in the mail, or is there a way to pay for it online?

If memory serves me well, you can pay the application fee online on my.mit.edu. There should be a button that lets you pay with a credit/debit card. You can also use a fee waiver (if you qualify). For that, you would say that you're using a waiver on my.mit.edu, then you would send the piece of paper (by mail) to MIT.

I figured there would be a way to pay for it online on my.mit.edu., but I can't find it. Do you know the requirements to receive a fee waiver, or will I just have to send in a request to the school and let them decide?

When you complete all sections of Part 1, validate all the required entries, previewed your application via a pdf, the third and final thing to do is "Proceed to Payment" where you can either pay $65 online(no checks) or request a fee waiver. If you click on the "Request Fee Waiver" option you will be told that request for your fee waiver has been accepted and you need to send an official letter from your Principal or use the Collegeboard SAT Fee-Waiver form as soon as possible to a certain address which they will tell you. I think that's all!!

Oh wow. Thank you very much, adrivit! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to pay before submitting the first part or not. So I would have kept waiting. Now I know what to do. Thanks again!

Mention not!!

"The deadline to apply for freshman admission to MIT has passed for entry year 2008. The online application for entry year 2009 will be available in late summer."
That's the message which i get when i log in !@!!
(din't the application come out on aug 3 ?)

Oh that's weird! I, many more too, have already finished part 1. Maybe, try to log in typing the user-id and password fresh, i guess the previous session was saved or something(tho that's weird!). If nothing happens, contact MIT admissions IMMEDIATELY! Don't panic!

sob :( sob.
'Why do they always happen to me?'
I've contacted the admins so many times already...for various other anomalies.

Oh don't worry! you can contact them again!! They are a group of very nice people!! Instead of mailing admissions @ mit dot edu, try to find an appropriate person from the people's directory, maybe then help will come faster! Don't worry!

Yeah, most people who use fee waivers send in the CollegeBoard waiver. In general, you qualify to use it if you used a fee waiver to register for the SAT's and/or if you qualify for your states free lunch program. You get it from your counselor.

How important is AP to MIT? How would this compare to the applicant pool?

2400
800,800,790 (SAT II)
4.0/4.0
5,5,4 :|

Thanks!

Please read some previous posts ... a lot has been said about this.

You date the son of ETS's director???

No; I just try to do my best...and hope it's competitive enough. :)

You can get some idea of the competitiveness of the MIT applicant pool, and the types of students who are admitted, by looking at last year's EA and RD results threads, merged and featured on this forum, here. This isn't a perfect idea, but it could be useful to you.

Thanks, molliebatmit!
