MIT Launch 2017

I have not received an interview request yet, but I am still hopeful. I just checked my youtube analytics for my video (even though they do not tell much!) and saw it was viewed in Massachusetts on December 23rd, and in Maryland on January 16th, and 17th. Hopefully that means something!! Good luck and congrats to everyone else

The YouTube analytics don’t mean anything really, but it was just out of my curiosity.

Hello. I am international applicant from foreign country. Can i still apply to launch programme if President trump banned my entry to your country (usa)? Thanks for your help. If you dont know could you please ask one of the MIT launch people? Internet connection is bad here and i dont know how to contact them. many thanks!!!

@RogerSmith - that is probably going to be hard. Please check your sources and verify your claims.

@RogerSmith Please let me know what country you are currently in. Their email is : info@mitlaunch.com . If you are unable to contact them due to internet issues, I will try to contact them myself. Good luck, and I’m so sorry that you are being affected by this racist, unconstitutional immigration ban.

@RogerSmith
This is from the MIT Launch Website:
CAN STUDENTS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM?
International applicants may apply if they have a visa that would allow them to enter and stay in the United States for the program, but Launch does not offer student visas or support applying for visas. Visas also vary from country to country, and our office is not international visa experts, so we are not equipped to answer questions on whether or not your visa will allow you to attend. Check out our blog post of for suggestions from previous international students, though.

I’m assuming that you are from one of the 7 countries banned in Trump’s executive order (Iran, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen), as you posted your comment the day after the executive order. I’m assuming it is likely Sudan or Iran, as you must have access to media of some sort as well as internet. It will likely be very difficult to get a visa to the US. I’ve heard that in the past, people would travel to places like Turkey or UAE where US relations are better to apply for a visa (according to the New York Times), but it doesn’t look possible for now (the ban will be in place for 90 days meaning that it might be over before MIT Launch, so you might be able to apply for both a visa and apply to MIT launch, but I have no idea). However, it looks like students from Sudan have applied to MIT launch in the past, so it might be possible. MIT Launch probably won’t be able to help you very much (their website says they aren’t really able to answer your questions). You might want to call your nearest US embassy if possible. Good luck and sorry about your current situation.

Anyone applying to RA? And how rigorous it is / how hard is it to get in? I need some back up plan for my summer…

@0x0001 What is RA?

Regular application @CIRCUITDEBATER

@0x0001 I am. Honestly, I started my app today, and I’m applying on a whim. I don’t have any entrepreneurship experience and most videos I have watched do. I’m guessing since the early acceptance rate is so high, the RA is probably going to be extremely low.

What’s the early acceptance rate?

Around 20%. Maybe 17% this year. @CIRCUITDEBATER

Do you need to start a company or make an app to get into MIT Launch or are there some people who haven’t done that at Launch?

@Groundhog42 No, you don’t need to already have a company or app. I think they’re looking more for that you have the attitude and potential to become an entrepreneur more than any merits.

@annie4564 Good luck with your app! I submitted my app a few days ago… fingers crossed!

@Groundhog42 If you do, it is probably a bump in your chance… but definitely not required

@0x0001 Thank you! It would be so awesome and amazing if I got in, but if I don’t, it wouldn’t be the end of the world :slight_smile: Good luck to you too! Hope everything turns out well!

Hi all, I j turned in my app. in December, but a lot has happened since I sent in my early application regarding a startup I have been working on. Would it make sense. if I sent them an email since I have not been asked for an interview yet?

Has anybody got acceptance notification so far?

@runnerrb I would email them with the additional information, otherwise they will never know.
