MIT or Stanford?

^ Koch? Yuck!
You are doing a great disservice to MIT by mentioning that name.

Listen to Harvard Prof. Lessig:

I will chime in my 2 cents here :)

What is your personality? Pick a school that fits your personality. I haven’t seen your Stats but from what I know (of people who go to both schools), MIT is very intense. Stanford is intense too, but the overall experience may be different. At least Stanford kids are known to project a not too intense outlook.

As for student life, Stanford is really big into Sports. And believe me, even if you were into cricket in India, you will soon get into college football. Not sure if the lack or the availability of sports is a factor but Stanford has a lot of Student-Athlete type student body.

As for college town, you already know it since you have visited. Boston is great, Palo Alto is not much college town. Both have a good body of international (esp Indian) students.

At the end of the day, it is choosing between apple and orange. Both are good for you. You just need to decide which flavor you like. Oh, and did you get fin aid? Money is a big factor…and even if you were choosing to pay your own way, doesn’t hurt to know the potential of future financial aid. Dont know about MIT but Stanford is rolling in money…

Living not too far from Boston, I would choose Stanford for the weather!! Winters in Cambridge are gray and cold. City life in the winter is a pain. We visit the Boston area often, and I am always SO glad to head back to Maine.

@ChubbyCheeks- I know I know, but I just listed out the companies which have been founded by MIT grads. Personally I too dislike it for its environment record…
