MoMA internship vs. college classes

I basically have two options for this summer: I was accepted into the Museum of Modern Art's High School Internship Program (I'm a sophomore) and into summer classes at NYU. I'm leaning towards the internship, although my parents think that taking the classes (Contemporary Art and Exploring the Museums of NYC) will be more helpful, and they also believe that I'm too young to start working. Does anyone have any experience with a conflict like this? Advice?

whoa. MoMA for sure. many people take summer classes, but very few get an internship at MoMa! it will open so many doors for you:)

Big time - take the internship. Anyone can take classes at almost any university as a non-matriculating student (although not just anyone can do well in them - that would be a great EC). You were not SELECTED for NYU. You were certainly selected for MOMA, and it is a big honor. Congratulations! What a great experience you will have.

Thanks guys. After reading I didn't even think twice about accepting the internship, it's a no brainer.

Yes, it is a no-brainer. It's very hard to get an internship at MOMA. The experience you gain there will be very helpful in getting you your first job.

MoMa, no question about it. NYU summer school will always be there, the internship won't. From the classes you would be taking, it sounds like you might be doing an art/art history major? If that's the case, the MoMa thing would (in my opinion) be a much greater boost than more classes.
