Momentous event at Columbia

thats very hardcore…though not surprising i guess…glad i dont have an anarchist past or anything

Decisions should have been sent according to Bwog.

…lame

Yeah. You can come sit in the group orgy on the lawn though.

I received no decision, despite having a still-valid UNI. Odd.

They didnt bother sending rejections from what I understand. Come on now, their servers couldn’t hold 15000 requests for an app in a 10 hour span. It would take them days for the server to cycle thru all those emails :P

Edit: also going to game the speech in front of the jumbotron. drink for every “change” and vietnam war story

Eh. Chances are we’ll see Obama at at least one of the next 3 graduation speeches once he’s president (It’s happening; roll with it).

I just wanted to assess how old McCain in person. Apparently he looks a lot worst than on tv. Not quite how that’s possible…

Obama hates Columbia. He never mentions it anywhere, and doesn’t even talk about it in his book aside from a silly anecdote about having to sleep in the street on 109th and amsterdam the first night he got here.

Ungrateful ■■■■■■■.

Unless, of course, he’s found out to have pushed to select Columbia as the venue for this. I mean, it had to be someplace in NYC if it was going to be on 9/11, but he did have a bunch of options. In that case, what a wonderful ■■■■■■■ he is.

I don’t think that means he hates it…just that Harvard negated it.

I mean, he’s a presidential candidate. His academic background isn’t gonna be at the forefront of every discussion. And once it says ''Harvard graduate" you’re pretty much set. Sort of like me who stopped mentioning what high school I went to once I got to Columbia.

it does seem that obama is not too thrilled about columbia and as bill o’reilly pointed out last night we don’t know anything about his time at columbia…all he says about it is that he spent all his time like a hermit in the library.

you can’t compare high school to undergrad university… your college should hold a much dearer place in your heart than your high school…the only people you see fixated on high school are those who didn’t go to college. also your undergrad school tends to define you more than any grad schools you go to.

oh, also… i didnt get a rejection email either…anyone know of anyone who got a ticket?

My daughter is worried sick she didn’t get selected. She thinks her test scores were too low and she didn’t develop a significant passion.

A passion for Obama?

And I would disagree with Shraf. If you’re going to look back at a school purely from a social “these were the days” standpoint then High school has as much importance as college. It’s the eternal storytelling cliche.

But in the case of Obama what I meant was that in public situations where people are questioning your credentials, you’re going to mention your highest and most recent degree. Harvard grad school sounds better than Columbia College. That’s just fact. Those asking, only want a snipet of your education and background.

It makes sense that that snipet will be the latest and highest; Harvard.

if this is a parody comparing the debate ticket lottery with college admissions, you get an A+. Well done.

If it’s unintentional comedy, well, we had a laugh at your expense too.

Maybe because the spicy special hadn’t been invented yet.

I believe six Columbia students are slated to appear on Hannitty and Coombs (not sure of spelling, but it is on the Fox network) after the Obama/McCain event.

As I predicted, this forum will hardly matter / be noticed. Ike and Sarah’s interview will lead the news cycle into the weekend.

^Well it was interesting enough to those who watched it, so I really see no point in demeaning its importance now. Even if it was just the people crowding the steps for 4 hours, someone obviously noticed. Maybe it can be cool to us without it also being popular?

Seriously, let it go.

except of course, like that Saddleback forum that you dismissed, it was carried live on all the 24 hour news networks. as far as i can tell, no major gaffes by either candidate so as a result it won’t be on constant loop through the weekend but it was certainly noticed!

I was disappointed. Neither of them said anything that remotely interested me. However, it was pretty cool to be around so many students watching it on the big screen.

Did anyone notice that on the headlines, it was advertised as a 9/11 Presidential Forum when in actuality, it was a ServiceNation Summit?
