How are you paying for your college laptop/desktop?

I am relying on financial aid, scholarships, grants, and loans to pay for tuition and room/board. I do not know how I will ever get enough money for a good enough laptop for school.

Any ideas, besides the obvious getting a job?

Personally, I am using my old laptop. It may have 512 MB RAM and a 100 GB hard disk, but so far it has served me really well. Are you going to be doing anything requiring intensive computing power (serious gaming, extensive modelling, etc...)? Because there are VERY cheap laptops (I am talking $400 or less) that will more than serve your needs if you only plan to type papers, browse the internet, read e-books, listen to music, and watch videos.

host a grad party
i used the money from that to pay for my laptop and books and still had some $$ left over

A lot of schools will give you a one time lo9an adjustment to pay for a laptop. I think my school does $1500, you get it in a lump sum.
I didn't go this route, but bought a $150 used Dell on craigslist instead.

I am really hoping to get one from a scholarship. There's a local scholarship that's giving away laptops. If I don't get one, I'll just buy some cheap ten year old one and run linux on it. Good thing I learned a lot about linux in my free time. :D

You can get a laptop that is definitely good enough to serve you in college for <$300.
