Money: Princeton a "Great American Town"

I was a lurker throughout the ED era when the boards were bombarded. Im sorry that I denigrated Marcus, I was just upset momentarily.

That's between you and him, I'm not going to get involved, but I'm sure it's fine.

Are you attending Princeton this fall? I'm sorry if I'm kind of clueless.

Yes Ms. Jiang, I will be a member of '09 and am looking forward to the year with unbridled ebullience.

Wonderful, but I would appreciate it if you didn't mention my name like that. Thanks :)

Ok that's just a bit creepy. Yeah. cough :)

Heyy, what happened to my emails, legend?

Zant: I got lazy. What's wrong with CC?

Quote: Based on information obtained from students admitted to the University who chose not to attend, Rapelye confirmed that most of Princeton's cross-admits choose Harvard, Yale, Stanford or MIT over Old Nassau.

Ummm isn't it obvious that this means within the bounds of the Princeton cross-admits that chose not to attend? Roffll. (Can't touch me Zant)

I was referring to a different quote, legend. I'll remember that rofl as well.

Nothing's wrong with cc, I like boosting post counts.

I haven't done an ounce of work...and it's not for lack of work assigned to me. It's just that the office is too quiet and I feel uncomfortable calling people when everyone can hear what I'm saying :(

What are you talking about? The quote was in your post rofl.

(that's two)

Oh sorry, my mistake. But no I still don't think it's obvious that pton cross admits choose those schools...

This is getting confusing, but let's say that 100 people were admitted to both Princeton and Harvard. And 75 of those choose Princeton. If 20 of the other 25 choose Harvard, that means that most of the people who turn down Princeton did indeed choose Harvard, but it doesn't mean that most of the cross-admits choose it, you know? It's actually kind of a confusing statement, and it's open to interpretation to a degree.

The only thing confusing about the quote is the term "students admitted to the University". It doesn't specify cross-admits or just admits in general.

Yea.

I wanna go home and sleep.

And I'll remember those two rofl's, don't you worry.
Though technically, only spoken ones count, but I'd like to get it out of my online vocabulary too, so yea, I'll get you later.

"Based on information obtained from students admitted to the University who chose not to attend,

It's not based on those who chose to attend. She is wanting to know the answer to this question: "If they didn't choose Princeton, what did they choose?" That way they can know who their competitors are. They do not seem to be losing students to Williams, for example. Or Brown or Columbia.

aparent5: Um, of course? Where are we disagreeing?

It looked to me as though there were nagging doubts. ;)

Tee-hee I love this board.

Sorry Byerly, but this fast food argument makes absolutely no sense. As I'm sure you are aware, such chains are explicitly BANNED in or around Harvard Square. It's a 15-minute walk up Mass Ave to the nearest Wendy's and McD's...

Anon, I give your "theory" an F-. The 'burbs suck. If that weren't the cae, you wouldn't have hordes of college grads from HYP and dozens of other schools across the country flocking to NYC and, to a lesser extent, Boston and DC after graduation.

Zanta, what the article doesn't include is the fact that 3/4 of H-P cross-admits choose H. It's even higher for Yale. I don't have the link, but I'm sure someon can help me out...

thats different. people like people. during college, there are always gonna be people around at your college to socialize with. going to a city after graduation is just a matter of wanting to still be able to meet people.
