Moog scholarship application question!!

On the Moog scholarship application it asks you to lists extracurricular activities as well as leadership activities, volunteer activities, and research activities. Should this be in like a list format? Or full sentences with some elaboration/details? And should each activity only appear once? Ex. I'm in student council which I consider an extracurricular but also a leadership activity, should I just pick one to put it under?

And the longest essay about a research project you either have done or want to do, how much detail do they expect about the project? I guess I'm just struggling on how to write an essay that long about it.

And finally, is there a way to see if your rec letters have been received? Should they show up under materials submitted? Right now there's nothing under that section for me, not even anything with the little x marks that mean it hasn't been received. One of the teachers I have sending a letter is out on medical leave and she isn't the easiest person to communicate with so I'm concerned about making sure the letter gets there.

Sorry for all the questions, I just really don't want to mess anything up! Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

I have the same question regarding how much information to list in each section such as Volunteer Activities.

I would list the volunteer position, organization, years involved ect… If the organization is not well know, you should explain in more detail. It’s also best to explain what you actually did.
My son is applying and he also has the same question about the teacher’s recommendation. How do we know they are submitted? If they are not in before tomorrow at 5pm, what happens to my son’s application? Would they still consider it?

Once you start the actual scholarship application, you can click “Materials on File” (under Scholarships), and then the plus symbol next to the name of each scholarship. That should show you if your teacher recs were received or not…(it worked for me at least)

Do you know how quickly it should show them as received after the teacher sends it? Like right away or a couple days?

It looks like right away or very soon for DS. The system does not send you any notification when the teacher submits the letter. One of DS’ teachers e-mailed to let him know that the letter was submitted. The next day, the “materials on file” showed it was received.
Does anyone know what happens after 5pm today? Can teachers still submit the letter if they are late?

Same questions. Although my daughter submiited her applications on time, I wonder if WashU committes received the required rec letters. At this moment, there is nothing she can do. Just waiting for WashU’s response on her application if there is any missing items. Without a merit-scholarship, I will not allow her to go to WashU.

Dad2013, have your DD check her account. If her teacher sent in LOR, then it will state that the application has been complete and sent to the committee for review. My DS’ teacher did come through and submitted around noon yesterday. The system showed his application is complete a couple of hours after that.

She did it around noon yesterday and told me that the system showed the application was completed and sent to committee. So, your post relieved me. Thanks a lot.

My D also applied but her teachers mailed in the forms. They were supposed to mail them last week but didn’t send them until Monday. I would imagine they didn’t arrive until today. Do you know if they will accept her application?
