Is it true that the more people who apply to a certain school creates even more competition?

Like if 5 people wanted to go to Stanford (from fairly competitive high school), would that lower our %'s of getting in?

Or do schools not have any biases as to which schools people come from?

YES.

Even if you're all qualified, from my p.o.v., they aren't going to admit everyone. They want diversity, students from diff. schools.

I have 10-20 kids applying to Stanford E.A. at my school.

Unfortunately yes. Which sucks since about everyone who is even minimally qualified applies to Stanford at my school.

^So you'll stand out :)

yes. this is why i've dissuaded everyone who was going to apply EA to my first choice from doing so.

this blows :( i know at least three kids from the top ten percent are applying to my dream school. and there's only eight top ten percent kids.

mtngoat1: You are evil, but in a good way. That totally sounds like something I would do. ^.^

The UPenn admissions dean at the information session said, "You are judged in the context of where you come from."

In the Princeton Review top 360 schools, Brown says that they do not like to admit several students from the same school.
