Choosing the Right College is an excellent resource. Whether or not you agree with the red light-green light analysis, or the author’s bias towards a strong core curriculum is a matter of your personal choice. But the write ups on the schools are lengthy and I have found them to be fairly accurate and useful. Liberals always get their noses scrunched up when their favorite schools are parodied or described in terms like this. That is certainly your prerogative. But its conservatives prerogative to call a spade a spade from a conservative point of view.

Further, the authors recommended several red light schools on other grounds and hailed many professors on faculty. Its a thorough resource and an excellent starting point for people looking for the lay of the land on issues like this. If you don’t like a core curriculum, then go to Brown. The authors praised Columbia, by the way, for its core curriculum, even though it had several red light warnings about political leanings and one professor who was advocating pro Palestinian issues and told a Jewish student to shut up, and that the Israeli actions toward Palestine were indefensible.
