Bad areas? You’ll find out. But here’s what’s more important: AWARENESS. Don’t walk down the street oblivious and texting/talking on your cell phone. If you decide to engage in this type of behavior, please realize that muggers will see you as a target.

Have fun.

Yup. A common theme in muggings seems to be distraction. Kids walking around alone and chatting on the phone or listening to their iPod, etc.

Don’t set yourself up like that.

Thanks for the warning guys. haha, I guess the only area in Bronx I would go is around Arbo.

Bump…hi all. i live in staten island and will be commuting way uptown soon…like two hours each way. what are some viable housing options in the area for a budget of ~1200. im not willing to do bad neighborhood and cant dorm with girlfriend. Dont wanna get stabbed and would care to live as close to campus as possible, thanks

~1500 will get you pretty close to campus. Check out Claremont Ave. It’s one of the safest streets near school, it’s a block away from Barnard, and has a small community vibe. It’s one of MoHi’s best kept secrets.

What places were your personal faves for housing?

I have a girlfriend, so Im wondering how much of an issue having her over sometimes would be an issue? She has her own place, but would they potentially make an issue of having her over a couple of times a month?

Won’t be an issue unless:

Your girlfriend is insane.

OR

Your roommates are insane.

If both or neither are true, your fine. Just be considerate when banging.
