Morrill, Scholars, and Honors?

What essays should I write? I’m applying for Honors (over Scholars, since you can only choose one on the Common App), and was considering whether or not I should write the Morrill Essay? I’m not exceptional diverse (half white, half asian) and I have lots of other essays to write. With a 35 on the ACT, OSU is my in-state back-up, thus should I write the Morrill Essay knowing that theres a 95% chance I won’t attend OSU?

As for merit aid, applicants are automatically put into the running if they qualify, correct? There’s nothing additional I need to do?

Yes there is nothing else you need to do other than submit the common app and all required materials (transcript, etc) to be considered for the Maximus, Provost and Trustees merit scholarships. Only you can decide whether you are willing to spend the time to compose an essay for the Morrill scholarship If you think it’s unlikely you’ll attend.

If you are applying for Honors or for Scholars, a prompt comes up for an essay. Topic is what fictional character do you most relate to. IIRC the word range is 250-400 words. If you indicate Morrill consideration, a different essay prompt pops up.
