Morrison tower?!

Can someone PLEASE give me some info on this residence hall? (Good, bad, location, social life, etc???)

The lady who talked to our group at orientation about housing was the hall director for Morrison Tower (super nice, by the way). Someone asked her the same questions you did about it (I think they were in some scholars program and already knew they were living there), and she had nothing bad to say. Beyond that I don’t know much, as both of my friends who are sophomores now lived on north campus their freshman year. Because it’s on south campus, I’m sure the social life will be more on the active side. Lots of stuff to do, closer to parties and such (if you’re into that stuff), more places to eat than on north (I’m a little jealous of all the south campus people right now because I just found out that there’s a waffle house and a raising canes right near you guys on High Street). I’ve honestly heard nothing bad about any of the dorms really, besides Lincoln and Morril on West campus, and that’s only because they’re so far away from everything. And Morrison has a/c, so that’s a plus too

Lincoln and Morrill aren’t that bad. Depends on your perspective, I guess. My oldest daughter stayed there her junior year. It was convenient in that it was close to both work and school (she works in the RPAC). She liked the living room area but didn’t care for the bathroom part.

My youngest (incoming freshman) actually chose Morrill as one of her choices, having liked the layout when she would visit her sister. She didn’t get it and I am kind of glad as it is a tad bit far from the engineering buildings. Plus, she is more of a 1 or 2 close friend only person. Not 15.

I’m a little bummed I didn’t get parkstrad or smith steeb (as well as everyone else is) so Im just trying to get the info/opinions on Morrison!

I’m going to be a sophomore and lived there last year. It really isn’t that bad of a building. I know at the time I was pretty bummed out about not getting park-strad. It has a/c which is a huge plus. It’s pretty close to the Union and JO south if you like to workout. I didn’t learn this until spring semester, but it’s part of the tunnels. So in the winter its absolutely amazing to be able to walk to Kennedy Common or 12th ave bread company without having to go out into the cold. All of the RA’s were pretty chill. The worst thing about the building was the bathrooms. I was on an all girls floor and on the weekends after everyone had been partying the bathrooms were completely disgusting. They only get cleaned on weekdays and toilets had a tendency of breaking. The elevators also broke down a lot. I was on 10th floor so this was a bit of a struggle. BIG TIP- If you’ll be doing laundry on campus, use the tunnel to walk over to Siebert hall. If you walk through Morrisons lobby theres a door you go through, walk a few steps, then swipe your ID to get into siebert hall. Their laundry room has brand new washers and dryers and they’re to your right as soon as you come out of the tunnel. This helps a lot when Morrison’s laundry area is crowded or if you just don’t like the looks of the room lol. But overall, Morrison is a good building. Rooms are a lot larger than the ones in the new dorms and there is soooo much storage built into the closet! It’s an old building so of course it has problems at times. At one point this was the best dorm on south campus because it actually had a/c and the room sizes.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask

One more thing to add-

Siebert has an awesome study area. It’s to your left when you come out of the tunnel. Definitely take advantage of this when you don’t feel like lugging your stuff to the library.

Hi! I’m also going to be living in morrison next year, like the OP. I created an account here just to ask this question haha but do you know how big the super doubles are? My roommate and I both like to play ps3 and so I was wondering if there was space for a TV and stand. When I look up the floor plan, it doesn’t give any information about room size other than an almost 7 foot window. Also, do you know if the super doubles are carpeted floors or tile?

I am so glad that someone posted about Morrison, though. I have been trying to find information about this dorm since I got my assignment back in April! I lived in Norton last year in a regular double (the desks were in the same room as the beds) and it was the size of a broom closet, I swear. My roommate and I were tripping over each other all the time.
