I was wondering what is the most AP tests that you or someone you know has taken in one year and throughout high school. And if you took a lot, how many did you self-teach yourself or take through an online program or tutor to learn? And what tests were they? And does anyone know if you can take the AP tests for AP Calc BC and AB?
@rachel16122 You can’t take the Calculus AB + BC exams in the same year.
I’m not an AP-aholic, but I heard that some people would take 10 AP exams in one year which is crazy. As a Junior, I took 7 APs total, Computer Science and Art History were online courses through FLVS. As a rising Senior, I plan to take 8 AP exams, Macroeconomics will be online through FLVS, and AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics C: E&M will be self-study; the other 5 will be physics classroom classes.
EDIT: Calculus AB and BC exams are redundant to be taken in the same year since the Calculus BC exam also includes a Calculus AB subscore which only considers your performance on the Calculus AB questions and is the equivalent of a Calculus AB exam score.
Also, some questions appear in both the AB and BC exams. In particular, I heard from an AP Calc. teacher who I know that 3 of the FRQs are in both exams (1 calculator, 2 non-calculator).
I know someone in my school who did all the AP tests throughout his high school career. He was on a fee waiver so each test cost $5. He took 16 in one year.
@“Keasbey Nights” took 24 while in HS.
AP state scholar distinction goes to boy and girl from each state who takes the most AP exams with a 3 or higher and by average score if there is a tie. Though I do not recall seeing anywhere the names are published. Have seen a couple schools that announce their state scholars if they have one/both.
Thanks @skieurope.
I indeed took 24 in HS and was subsequently named the Florida Male State AP Scholar. I took 1 as a freshman, 4 as a sophomore, 8 as a junior, and 11 as a senior. I self-studied for 3 of them, took 7 online, and took the other 14 in school. (I feel the need to proactively defend myself by stating that no, I didn’t do this out of some hypercompetitive obsession with artificially set goals.) My school district paid for all but the self-studies.
Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience.
I just… I feel so insignificant taking only 4 AP classes this year compared to you. I’m already busied up with hours of homework and projects each day from 4 AP classes. How did you manage your time to prepare for all those exams??
