The New York Times picked the day the latest USNews (aka, the Useless Spending News) rankings were published, to roll out its own ranking, based on very different criteria: access and affordability . Wesleyan does extremely well among 100 of the most highly regarded colleges AND research universities in the country (unlike the Useless Spending News poll, the NYT did not separate the LACs from other elite institutions) and finished 13th overall and second in NESCAC:
