Are there any GRE prep courses that are not painfully boring?

Also:
I tend to put work/studying off till the last moment, which won't work with the GRE. Any suggestions on how to improve my scores over the next four months in a manner that forces me to actually study? (why I want to take a course)

I remember taking a KAPLAN SAT prep course 5 or 6 years ago and I was so bored that I stopped paying attention and didn't improve my score.

(I am planning on getting a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology and had a GPA of 3.9)

hello crobert, maybe i can’t tell u some shortcuts to a high gre score, however i can tell u how chinese students whoes first or second language isn’t english prepare for their gre tests in china. they have the same purposes as u that going to an american graduate school for their american dreams. i am one of them, i totally know about the sorrows and pleasures in the process of preparing.ur native language is english, but it is just a foreign language for us. each of us have a heavy book named “red bible of gre” which contain 8000+ words, however the most important thing is that some words in the book which are familiar to u is totally strange to us. we have to rote 200 to 300 new words every day. we have to use 5 to 8 hours every day to recite words, turn 300 pages again and again. do u think it is boring, we also think it is boring.

on chinese internet there are many forums pertaining to gre study, these forums are quite popular among us, many students upload materials to it, some ask questions, some give advices on efficient approach or give some stimulant stories. through these sites u can peep chinese students’ diligence and perseverance.

from a certain point of view, chinese internet is quite open and free as there are few crackdowns against pirates’ activities. so u can download any new musics, films, games from our websites freely, of course the gre study materials. so if u want some, i can help u a lot.

^That is also what I did, for 3 weeks straight 14 hours per day memorizing 3000 words. This last minute attempt resulted in 300 Verbal average to 550 Verbal average. If I have 4 months 8 hours per day would get 700 for sure. Not boring, because I saw this as challenge. But it’s not fun and stressful. I forced myself to do it.

You are a native speaker, you don’t need prep trust me, just memorize 1000 hardest words and it should be enough to get 600+. So just memorize 10 per day for 4 months = 1200 words. Memorizing 10 words per day is easy, unlike my 250 words per day.
