soooooo, what are my chances? also, do you have any suggestions on where I might want to apply?

grazie!

bump. bump.

I would say you have a shot at most if not all of those, especially if you could get that ACT to a 30+.

let's hope I do. =P

anyone else?

c'monnnnnnnn.

bump again.

one more time.

I think I'm just the person you're looking for! I was accepted to several of those schools (Grinnell, Lawrence, Macalester, and Carleton, where I'll be heading off this fall) so I can give you chances from personal experience. Your GPA and rank are pretty good, and you've done a lot of extracurriculars, though they're not too unique or out of the ordinary. The SAT and ACT are problems, but if you retake them and can get 2100+ and 31+, you should be ok. Write a great essay and your odds can only get better. I'm not entirely sure if the Wesleyan alum rec will help all that much--obviously, an outstanding rec is an outstanding rec and that will certainly help, but lots of applicants find alums to write them recs, whether those alums are teachers or family friends. The Middle Eastern background is a great hook, and you should play it up as much as possible.

So, chances, keeping in mind that I'm by no means an expert on this:
Kenyon--good chance
Wesleyan--reach
Carleton--reach
Grinnell--maybe reach, but good chance
Lawrence--in
Macalester--good chance
UNC--no idea, not familiar with the school other than basketball :)
UI@ Urbana-Champaign--in
Lake Forest--in
Loyola Chicago--again, not familiar with the school
UW@ Madison--in
UM@ Ann Arbor--good chance
