My FA is also #awful, I got into a much higher ranked school with triple the FA, dad told me not to appeal, should I appeal? I really like MHC but idkkk that skl didn’t even have loans like loll…
I got in with Trustee Scholarship! Full tuition $56k - I can’t believe it!
@RandomGuy62 I’m sorry to hear it about TE… It’s odd our letter didn’t have a page 2. Just 1 page of the decision letter.
My daughter got this 3 years ago!!! Congratulations!!! She loves Mount Holyoke!!
Rejected just now :,)
I was also disappointed with my financial aid. I was really excited about MHC, but this pretty much takes it out of the running for me. I may appeal, but I think you need to have a change in financial circumstances to appeal which I don’t.
accepted with leadership! congrats to all
I got the leadership award but almost no FA which is really disappointing. MHC is my top choice but i probably won’t be able to go
literally the same for me, excited and immediately burnt out after looking at the FA like what on Earth…
I got 25K for leadership
My D got the least amount of $ from Mt. Holyoke as well. So sorry for your D . Mine got more from Smith, Bryn Mawr and Sarah Lawrence.
omg! i was accepted with 30k merit aid for leadership! it’s probably not enough for my fam, but I’m so happy to have finally been accepted to a school on the east coast (after being rejected from 2 and waitlisted from one )where my parents could drive to!!
Ugh, My D got in but the FA is really low compared to the other schools.
I feel so bad for her, this is her dream school and she got in- but I would have to take out a loan the size of my mortgage.
D accepted with 20K leadership award. While she was pleasantly surprised with the acceptance, we feel disappointed with the merit considering she was offered 28K at Oberlin and 25K at Union. Oh well.
Congratulations to all accepted! And best of luck to all of you still trying to figure things out.
Congrats and hoping for the best for everyone! (I got the 21st Century scholarship)

It’s disconcerting to hear that all of you, as well as others, didn’t receive competitive financial aid offers. If Moho is the first choice, I definitely think it’s worth contacting financial aid and showing them your other offers. I wonder if they’ve made a change in how they calculate EFC because it strikes me as odd that so many of you are experiencing the same thing. They do have a yield to protect, and that yield will go down if accepted students can’t afford to attend. There’s no harm in trying to get a better offer. Best of luck to everyone!
Thank you!!! But Idk, Grinnell has offered me much more and so did Oberlin, my dad does not want me to go to MHC anyways but I have a bit of difficulty choosing from them, what do you think I should do? thanks!!!
Thanks, we are going to appeal- the difference is a big ask- Fingers crossed
@AliciaSmith Congrats on having three great options! You really can’t go wrong with any of these choices.
Both of my sisters-in-law went to Grinnell and they absolutely loved it. One went on to law school at Emory and the other to med school at Penn. They’re both active alumni and have maintained lifelong friendships from their days at Grinnell.
My daughter applied to the same three schools. She applied ED to Mount Holyoke and RD to Oberlin and Grinnell. For her the deciding factors were: 1) She preferred a women’s college, 2) She didn’t want to go to school in Ohio or Iowa (we live in the Midwest), 3) She fell in love with the courses and program offerings at Mount Holyoke, and 4) She liked the flexibility of being in a consortium. Of the three, my daughter thought Oberlin had the least interesting courses. Moho and Grinnell had more courses with the social-justice focus she was looking for. She’s attending Moho in the fall with a leadership award.
All three schools have a reputation for being supportive, collaborative, inclusive, and for having great academics. My recommendation would be to really take a close look at the course offerings in the programs in which you’re interested. If you haven’t done so already, you’ll likely be amazed at the differences and it may help you come to a decision. Be sure to look only at courses offered in the last two years. The other thing to consider is how the school has handled COVID (though I have hopes things will be on the path to normal by fall). Grinnell split their semesters which meant each class was in-person for just 1/2 of 1 semester. Moho was closed in the fall but invited everyone to return in the spring (up to 60% capacity), and I’m not sure what Oberlin did.
Congrats again on having three such great options! Let us know what you decide.
I agree. It’s kind of frustrating because I really do like Mount Holyoke, but they just had too much of an expected family contribution. An extra 5k a year in loans, on top of what I was expecting to take out adds up really fast. I’m hoping I can appeal, as the student contribution was the one that seemed too high, but I was working full time during the 2019 season and I no longer am (just part time), nor do I plan to in college. So maybe they’ll be able to lower it? It’s too bad.
