Mount Holyoke College RD Class of '25 applicants

Same - Financial Aid package was a letdown.

accepted but got barely anything in financial aid. wouldā€™ve loved to go there but it doesnā€™t seem possible

D accepted (yay!) but zero FA, which was disappointing considering generous offers from other schools. Waitlisted at Scripps, which means no merit aid at all (if she gets off the list), but in reading that thread was surprised by stingy aid there for most as well. Hard when these two are her top choices but aid is so lacking.

I was accepted with no merit aid but a surprising amount of need-based aid!

Since I got some merit, I can definitely afford to go here! I was worried since they took my dadā€™s income into account as well but it seems to have worked out!

I love Mount Holyoke so much but 48K a year is not affordable for me at all and thatā€™s including the scholarship. Right now itā€™s looking like I am going to my state school because of the affordability, canā€™t help but feel a little sad even though I knew the cost was high and I was not getting aid

Itā€™s worth it in the long run to attend Mount Holyoke. As I explained to a young mentee in the Class of 2006 years ago, with the prestige of my Mount Holyoke degree I was able to make the tuition payment in a week or two of fees as a lawyer years later. The friends she will make and the critical thinking skills that she will acquire will make the short term sacrifice seem like a great investment.

I donā€™t think my D will be making a hundred thousand in a week with a liberal arts degree, even with prestige, but I appreciate the positivity.

That was prior to 2006. As I dimly recall, it was about $40 to $50 K then. My young friend stayed at Mount Holyoke, graduated, and later earned a graduate degree.

I agree with the other posterā€¦all great choices and all schools my D applied to and was accepted at. Mount Holyoke gave her the most merit so that is where she ended up but would have been happy at any of the three. As a parent, her dad was over the moon with Grinnell and I loved Oberlin but in the end mine followed the money and has been extremely happy with her choice! Best of luck to you!

Dad will literally force me into Cal unless I get into Northwestern Music/Duke/Yale lol only those big ones leftā€¦ And I so want to go to some other LACs ahh donā€™t have a choiceā€¦

@AliciaSmith I personally do not see the point paying so much money to go to Cal for undergrad when you can attend a UK university for free.

I cannot, I am international (Chinese) not British, I pay lots no matter where I go

Does anyone have any tips for appealing FA? I think I will go to MHC since itā€™s more reasonable in terms of location, but money is likely to be an issue after a few years of unstable income with my dadā€™s job, so Iā€™m currently working on an email for appealing FA and would love some tips!

Also, Iā€™ve been waiting to be let in the Facebook group for admitted students for class of 2025 (thatā€™s me) for almost a week and Iā€™m getting impatient lol.

Likely after decision day, which is when Moho will know what their yield looks like and be able to start filling in the class from the waitlist as needed.

has anyone had a response to FA appeal?
