Mount Holyoke College Regular Decision Class of 2021

My twins got in with similar stats and very different awards. You never know.

@collegeready21 definitely make other plans, but there’s still some level of hope - I just found out that at one school where I am waitlisted, two years ago 3 students were admitted from the waitlist, but last year 136 students were admitted. There’s truly no way to know how many people they will decide to admit from the waitlist until those admitted make their decisions! Good luck!

@pey4343 First, you did AN interview which matters. And thanking/sending a thank you note is really not as important as those college blogs make it sound, I never sent in thank you notes, it doesn’t matter to be perfectly honest. They’re trying to give you more ideas of what you can or can’t control in your app. DOING an interview matters a lot more than the trivial before and after.
Second, looking at your profile I can see you’re someone who is shooting for ivies so clearly your application is extraordinary enough to be at the top 5% or so of the MH application pool. It does not surprise me that you would get the Trustee’s scholarship. Grades + test score PLUS DEMONSTRATED INTEREST as seen in your skype interview (the admissions office is more understanding towards travel concerns than you’d believe) is a pretty good strategy towards a scholarship.

I’m from NY and was admitted!!! My guidance counselor has been wanting me to go here for the past two years !!!

Hey everybody! What do y’all think about studying at an all girls college for 4 years?
I’m an international and I’ve got some aid from Mount Holyoke, which is why I’ve been considering it (over Boston University) but I’m starting to get worried about the all girls thing. Does it really make a significant difference ?

@intstudent2021 Shouldn’t you have thought of this BEFORE you applied? Surely you knew MHC was a women’s college and that FA for international students was limited. However, the reality is that there is a 5-college consortium and so you are not isolated in a women’s-only community.

@exlibris97 thanks for your replies.
Yes, I did think of it before I applied. However I do not think that it is unsual to reconsider colleges based on various factors especially when there are more than 2-3 college acceptances in one’s hands.

I’m looking forward to being in an all-women environment, but, then again, I am a man-hating lesbian :wink:

@intstudent2021 You’ve written elsewhere that you do not have the financial resources to attend your chosen colleges. So I’d focus on that first. You need to either prove you have the resources, or have been awarded sufficient financial aid to cover them, to obtain your visa.

As for going to a women’s college, most classes are mixed so you will see plenty of the opposite sex.

@Fangirl1999 - I am so sure you and my daughter would be friends. She is on the group me. Where did you decide to go?

@SFLmom I probably met her then! And I’m going to Smith (…srry MoHo but they offered me more money)
