Honstly, this summer's movies haven't been that good.
I even contemplated seeing an Indian movie instead; but Pirates of the Caribbean came out just in time.

Eh, I really don't put much stock in the Oscars. The Academy almost never votes for, or even nominates, my favorite movies. Is that true for anyone else?

Some of the weirdest movies get nominated while the ones that really deserve it don't. And even when they do get nominated; they never win! Like the Aviator, Lionardo DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor; but didn't get it.
Everyone knows that the actor/actress who does the most brown nosing is the one to get the oscar!

so this is really good. tell me what you like in any movie you saw the actors , the story or Oscar How do you know that this movie is nice ?? tell me its intersting . What is your favorite Actor you saw and you like to see all the movies ???? of him tell me its so nice to know ???????and i will answer back and see who love this actor and Why .....................

My god, i havent watched ANY of the movies listed in this thread! (yes I havent watched Pirates of the carribian 2.. or even 1. GASP)

I watched Stick it and I thought it was good.

And I watched this random movie with Amanda bynes in it (something about being a man) and that was ok.

And I watched Step Up and that was good too.

And Take the Lead and that was..ok.
And these other random movies..

" Like the Aviator, Lionardo DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor; but didn't get it"

DiCaprio is still young. I think the Academy wants to challange him a bit more. I thought Jamie Fox's performance was better tho. Plus he has the African American trump card. The Academy loves its minorities (watch out for Ken Watanabe in his upcoming films!).

I don't think Jamie Foxx will be gettign another one any time soon. When he won, all he did was thank his dead grandma; not even a "I'd like to thank the members of the academy." If someone neglected (or forgot) to thank me if I did something for them; I would think twice before doing the same thing again.
btw, Leonardo DiCaprio was good in the Aviator...it was really convincing the way he depicted OCD.

stuck-on-1700

i never said he would get another one soon

wats wrong with thanking ur dead grandma? if i won an academy award i would definitely thank a close family member that had a major influence on my early life than the academy, which is just an anonymous judging panel

DiCaprio was good in Aviator, but i think Foxx was better

There was nothing wrong with his thanking his dead grandma. I'm just saying that he should have at least said something about the members of the Academy. After all they were the ones who veted for him. And of course he should have thanked some other people; like his agent, production company, his mother..anything. But he only memtioned his grandmother and that he couldn't wait to go to sleep to talk to her about his big win.

I basically find the acadamy award genre movies quite a bore - million dollar baby (?), the aviator, cold mountain (?), brokeback mountain, the reese witherspoon + the famous guy singing one, etc..
I havent watched ANY of the movies I've just listed, but I've seen the other acadamy nominated movies from far back.. maybe I'm just not mature enough for them?

I'm more into commercial, mainstream, junk movies! White chicks is my favorite! others include 'how to lose a guy in 10 days' or 7?, 'donie darko', 'stick it', 'goal!' (soccer fans must watch!), 'dude wheres my car', etc.. I think my other fav movie that doesnt really fit in here is, FIGHT CLUB!
I'm a junk movie junkie :)

so its really nice to tell me about it what about your summer in this year what you did in the summer where did you go ?????????????what you did??????????????

NoFX, I also like that kind of movies. But I also like a little diversity when it comes to movie genres.
I was laughing so hard watching 'dude where's my car' the neighbours heard me. Donie Darko was really cool too. But I didn't like the romantic comedy stuff like 'how to loose a guy..' it was really boring if you ask me. That's really not my kind of movie.

V for Vendetta was sick.
other than that, PotC2 was entertaining, and i wanted to watch snakes but just never had the time. my friends say the audience was just laughing the whole time and shouting at the screen.

worst movies of the summer are:

-The break up (romantic comedy is boring as hell)
-Little Man (who would want to watch a little guy immitate a baby)
-Cars (I dislike animated movies)
-Over the Hedge ( ditto)
-Mortuary (horror, you've seen one you've seem them all)
