Hey here's my deal. I go to a top 3 LAC right now (amherst, williams, swat won't reveal which) but I really hate it and can't deal with the small size and lack of big cityness, I applied early, got locked in and realized I really didn't want to go. I have a 3.75 this semester at this LAC, I also play a varsity sport that I could potentially play at my new school. I had a 1500 on the SAT, 770 writing, 780 lit, 680 bio sat 2's in HS and went to a top New England boarding school that didn't rank or give GPA but I had like an A- average. I'm only applying to Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth and Penn because if I transfer I'm only going to do it for a better/equivalent school. Since I've already proved that I can get a 3.75 at a top college how are my chances for transfer admissions, I'm really totally ignorant about transfer admissions.

I assume Williams lol. Yale is going to be very tough but you have a shot (25% maybe), Harvard a better shot (40% maybe), Dartmouth decent/ good shot (55%), Penn good shot (60%)

Really, chances are that good? Sweet. Harvard is my first choice (love boston and want to be near my girlfriend who goes to tufts) I was intimidated by Harvard's numbers which said they only take 75 out of 1000 transfer applicants, is it just a substantially weaker pool than that for freshman admissions? Does Yale just take very few transfers, and as a result is much more difficult to get into?

nice.

i'm in your same situation.

and i'm applying to all of the schools you listed (sans penn) among others.

and you can tell by name that we also have something else in common.

perhaps we'll end up at the same place?

^Yeah, the dead rule. Anyways, are these school easier to get into as a transfer with a GPA at a good school than as an entering freshman? Also, I heard Brown was very easy for transfers. I like the academics at Brown, however, I'm very conservative and preppy (despite my love for the dead) would I find life difficult at brown as a registered republican? if i hear that the social scene is fun no matter who you are then i would definetly apply there.

i think that when people are sloshed, no one cares.

bump. may i also say that I am the biggest anti-advocate of early decision after my experience getting locked into a school I ended up hating before I even got there. (visited after I got in and said "oh ****")

I also agree with Early Decision ****ing up people's lives

bump back up.
