Moving threads

OK- here’s another one for ya—
When a thread gets moved, the title is usually left in the original location with a notation as to where the thread was moved. Well, I know it is early in the morning, but my weary eyes could not find the thread I’d started on “when will he start packing”. I ultimately discovered that it had been moved from the Parents Cafe to the Parents Forum AND had been selected as a featured thread (thanks! ) but I couldn’t find a link from the cafe to indicate that the thread had been moved-- I just couldnt find it in the cafe anymore. I’d feared that somehow something got posted in the wee hours of the night that caused the thread to be pulled. I am honored that it has been moved and selected to be featured, but I fear it will die if no one who has posted in it can find it (unless they click on the email link and cut/paste). I’ll go back and look again in the cafe to see if I overlooked the notation that the thread had been moved. If is isnt there, can you put it there so people can find the thread? Thanks!

**** EDIT**** oops-- never mind-- I found the “moved” link. BUT-now I cant find the “delete” option to delete this post!!! I must need a cup of coffee!! Where’d the “delete” option go???

You can’t delete an op.

Leaving up jym’s post, because others might wonder about this.

When we move a thread, we have the option of leaving the title in its original location and linking to the “moved” location. That notation does expire, though. The expiration can be as short as a number of hours or can be quite a long time. I imagine that the Moderator who moved that thread figured that most posters/readers on the Parent Cafe are also active on the Parent Forum… so would find the thread pretty readily. So didn’t feel a need for a long link “notice” period.

Thanks, Andale. I tend to be a member of the “out of sight, out of mind” brain-dead population, so if it hadn’t been my thread and I didn’t see it, I’d probably have forgotten about it… as tends to happenwhen threads fade to lower pages…
