Btw would you be able to tell me your extracurricular activities etc. that you had on your resume last year when you applied? @Quantuf
Hey all! I just sent my application in yesterday… I really hope I get into this program! The program seems amazing, so fingers crossed… Anyone know how selective/competitive the program is predicted to be this year?
Also @ritikulous I’m pretty sure they only accept “high school students in the New York City Tri-State area” (quoted from their website.)
@ThinkOn Thx for the response! I have heard from friends and alumni that due to the extraordinarily large number of applicants, information can be easily scrambled. The application process is indeed hectic for MSK, but the internship itself is definitely a worthwhile experience (or so I’ve heard). The only reason I wouldn’t attend is if I were rejected.
@19szhang Hey! I emailed them a few weeks ago, and I asked if I was still eligible even though I was out of state, and they told me that I could still apply.
Waiting for April 12th is gonna be nerve wracking!
Do we know that April 12th is the definitive decision date?
Anyone know if there is another step after application? Interview? Reception? More writing?
Honestly, they may take longer than April 12th. I know that in the past, they have even notified students of their acceptance in June. However, in previous years, the application was due in March. So, I think they’re going to try to tell us by April 12th because they gave themselves an extra month. @Pianogirl1235
I have no idea. But I do know that they narrow the pool down slowly. Like last year they narrowed the applicant pool down to the top 10 percent. And from there they chose the applicants. But I’m not sure if there was an extra step/commitment required of the applicants. @STEM2017
how many students do you think apply? a rough estimate - I’m just curious
Around 800-900 people applied last year @Pianogirl1235
Does anyone know what the stipend is like at the end of the program? Also are there any breaks during the program?
I believe that there is a $1500 stipend. And no breaks whatsovever are allowed in the program (like they seem really serious). @ilovefood012
Lol your username is the description of my life @ilovefood012
Lol! Your username haha. Same. @ilovefood012
@ritikulous Do you know what the hours are for the program? I know they say it gets intense during the last two weeks as presentations are being made. But is it like a full-time job all summer? 9 to 5, Monday to Friday?
Yep! It’s a 40 hrs/week “job”. 8 hours per day. Monday-Friday. However, I think the times will vary depending on the lab you get into. @STEM2017
If you guys get in, how far will you be commuting?
Haha I’m from Alabama! So, if I get in, I will be staying in a hotel with my dad. @Pianogirl1235
wow that makes my potential commute from new jersey seem like nothing haha @ritikulous
