MSU Financial Aid

Hi guys. I have been accepted to MSU and this is my FinAid Package:

FED College Work Study $3,000.00
FED Direct Subsidized Ln $1,854.00
MSU Freshman Grant $1,100.00
FED Pell Grant $5,550.00
MSU Student Aid Grant $6,120.00
FED Supp Ed Opp Grant $350.00
MSU Spartan Advantage $6,964.00
TOTAL $24,938.00

I was just wondering if anyone could give me any information. First, if I were to get additional outside scholarships that total more than my loan, will it lower my work study next or my Spartan Advantage award? Next, is there a way that I can get my Cost of Attendance increased in order to buy a laptop with my outside scholarships, rather than losing the extra money?

From personal experience, loan then SPAD. They keep the WS in there. Also, if you request your laptop budget the scholarship will apply to that before lowering the SPAD.

I’d check with the FA office to make sure nothings changed.

I’m on my phone but if you PM me I can help you more tomorrow.

okay. thanks.

More responses with personal experiences would be appreciated. How hard is it to get a budget for a laptop, and would I be able to get a decent one (Macbook Pro) or will I have to get a cheap one?

You can get a 600 budget increase for laptop. No one else on here is likely to have personal experience with SPAD.
