I'm from Maryland and I got into both. I just visited Michigan State last weekend and I loved the campus, but I haven't seen Ohio State in person yet. My play is to double major in Engineering and Jazz Studies.

Any thoughts on the prestigiousness of the programs/the campus/dorm life/anything else?

You need to find Sparkeye

Which field(s) of engineering are you considering?

Both OSU & MSU are on large campuses. At OSU, roughly 500 - 600 engineering recruiters visit campus each year; don’t know the stats for MSU. Keep in mind that both the states of Ohio & Michigan (& most of the other states as well) are facing budget constraints & will face significant shortfall in their funding for higher education. This is likely to cause in (steep) rise in tuition in the next few years. OoS students may be impacted even more. Since OSU has many campus locations, their fee structure may vary, which can be of help (financially) in freshmen & sophomore years prior to taking core engineering in Junior & Senior years.

Engineering at both locations is tough; MSU has some reputation for partying. As an engineering student, one has to have a good balance between studying (lots of it!) and social activities. Don’t know much about Jazz offerings at either of the univ.
