MT Auditions?

I am taking my son to CCM this weekend for his audition. Can anyone tell me what we can expect, or share their experiences? Thanks!

My daughter and I were at the same audition weekend last year. If I remember correctly the day started early with a meeting for parents and students. They shared information on what the day would be like, when you could expect to hear back after the auditions. Lots of people, the room filled up quickly.

After this meeting the students were instructed to change into their dance attire. They watched current students perform and then were taught a dance combination that they did in small groups. The parents were in a lounge for the most part. After the dance portion was finished before noon, the students were excused till their audition time for vocals and monologues, which is done at the same time. My daughters scheduled time was very late in the day, so we went back to the hotel.

We returned prior to her scheduled time, waited for a bit, then she went in did her audition and we were finished. CCM is the only school that my daughter auditioned for that is a stickler on time, do not go over the time that they specify. I believe there was a brief few questions after she performed.

I was disappointed that the facilities were not open to view, and that there were not many students or faculty available for questions, but it may have just been that weekend, not sure.

Best of luck!! It is such an exciting time…and decision time will come before you know it! Enjoy your time with your son, it is an exciting and nerve racking experience, but well worth it!! :)

Hi all! Reading your posts brings back a flood of memories. D. is currently an MT freshman at CCM and it was almost exactly a year ago that she was auditioning. mommamt has a great memory…our experience was almost identical, down to the late audition time for solos & monologues. We too went back to the motel & let D. rest have some hot tea etc. Bring your long underwear this weekend… D. reports it’s VERY cold with snow on the ground. Consider the source tho…she’s a southern gal and a mere dusting constitutes blizzard conditions to her. I would encourage your S. to snag a current student and ask lots of questions. D. trys to be around for auditionees. MT students really enjoy talking to those auditioning and well remember the excitement of that time. Have a great time. It was D’s favorite audition because she decided to just relax and enjoy it. Easier said than done, I know but she’s soooo happy this year and knows she landed exactly where she was meant to be. I’m happy to answer any questions. Break a leg to your son. I’ll be sending good wishes your way!

Thank you both for your responses - they are most helpful! We’ll be sure to back warm stuff!
