Anyone at all?

Just by any chance are you from HKIS?

State wise you are qualified (I’d say a bit higher than the avg. applicant). But Realistically Ivies are such crap shot you really need something to differentiate yourself from other applicants. I’m not sure about the Ivies and the other schools but NYU and Mich I’d say 60+ Why 60? because you are international other wise probably higher.

Nah, I am not from HKIS. Wouldn’t the fact that I have started a successful business, or built a cloud chamber and particle accelerator differentiate me from the rest?

woah…im not an expert on this, but to me it looks like you are perfectly qualified.

I’d say the business is in the right direction, but if you check the pass official decisions for most upper ivies (i assume you desire those the most) then acceptance gets pretty random. Imo. but definitely having a business as a EC should differentiate you from the rest. You should also check out the international student pop. on the college’s website. Some tend to be more friendly towards international student i.e. the ones with the biggest international pop. Just off the top of my head i think NYU has the 2nd largest int. student behind USC. Not too sure though double check it. But yea international students definitely have a chance two of my friend from HKIS both got into Harvard and Princeton for swimming and i think probably around 30ish ppl in my class got into ivies.

Well to be honest, my primary choices are basically: UPenn, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, UChicago and MIT Sloan. HYPS I know are crapshoots, and really the only reason I may apply there is because I might get lucky and make my parents happy.

Jmcyl, do you happen to have some stats on your friends who got into Harvard and Princeton, I would love to see the standard of international students from my area! :D

Well stats wise most if not all should be very qualified. you know the usual

near 4.0 or 4.0+
above 2000 SAT
on avg 700 SAT II
Solid EC club prez. or maybe class prez.

but the thing that differentiated my friend were they were both really good at swimming. The one that got into Harvard missed the HK Olympic team by .0something second something really close he swims for H now.

You should put emphasis on your Business EC that should help. The place to really shine is through the essay because practically all applicant’s stats will be similar to yours.

I know at least one person from my class at your school list except, MIT and U of Chicago.
