Muhlenberg v Providence

I'm a having a really tough time deciding between Providence College and Muhlenberg. I feel that they're so similar, it's hard to chose which is best for me.

What I like about both:
Beautiful campuses (though Muhlenberg is prettier), small liberal arts schools, "family feel", and I feel like I would fit in at either, which is why its so hard for me to choose.

Muhlenberg:
Pros:

4 in the nation for theatre (I plan on minoring or possibly double majoring).

They have psych, theatre and communications.

Cons:
Town seems less lively.
Two people I don't necessarily want to be with are already going to the school, and have the same interest as me (we're friends, but I'd rather just separate). I know I shouldn't base my choice off this, but it would seriously impact my experience.
I want to meet different people; I don't want a homogeneous environment where every person is a psych/theatre major.
More females, and more gay guys haha.

Providence
Pros:
A lot to do in town
A lot more lively, it seems. There is more to do.
Better social life.
Not everyone is a theatre major
More boys!
Cons:
They have "public and community service studies" / marketing / social science rather than communications. Though, that is the part of communications I would be interested in, as well as Journalism. I called to inquire about these programs, and they haven't responded yet. I am thinking Journalism may be a part of English, though?
The theatre program is not as developed but still fairly good.

Financially, Muhlenberg gave me $24,000. $11,000 is scholarship money, plus a $7,500 grant and two loans. At Providence, I received $6,000 in scholarship money, as well as a $5,000 grant and two scholarships to total $16,500. The difference between the two is $7,500. I'm going to write to/call/visit the Financial Aid office in person to ask Providence if they can match or beat that.

Thank you to anyone who read all that crap and any comments, haha.

You can’t minor in theater at Muhlenberg. It’s only a major program (which is stupid, but whatever). Not everyone, believe it or not, is in theater/psych. In fact, only two of my good friends are in theater at all. The rest of them are everything from Sociology to Neuroscience. Some of my friends complain about how “all the guys on campus are gay!” but it’s not true… you just have to… not hang out with only theater people.

Good luck!

Thank you very much, that was actually so helpful!

I actually think the fact that your friends are going should be a factor in this case, where it is a small college and your other option is just as good. Also consider that at a school renowned for its theater program, the competition for parts is going to be more intense also. Perhaps you’d get more onstage time at a lesser known program.
