Multi-cultured a hook?

<p>Hi, i was wondering if having lived- studied abroad is a hook?
well, i m korean and lived in Korea most of my life, but i also lived in france for a year and went to a french school for 3 years in korea.
i moved to the states my sophomore year, so my gpa is a bit on the low side: 3.5 uw 4.5 w :(
although my act was a bit better: 32, i m still worried that my application would be subpar on the academic side...
will having lived in korea nd france and having moved here so late help my getting into colleges?
i m thinking of colleges like johns hopkins, emory, northwestern, and u chicago...</p>

<p>p.s.
i have an upward trend 4.3 1st sem sophomore year 4.4 2nd sem, 4.5 1st sem junior year.
nd my high school's one of the best schools in the chicago area, mayb this might help too...</p>

<p>Many international students move to the US prior to attending a college. Just like you, they pick things up from high school.</p>

<p>I wouldn’t consider your background situation as a hook, though I believe you had significant experiences about which you can write in order to convey important aspects of your personality – what did you learn; how did moving from Korea to France and then to the US helped to shape your identity? How will you apply the knowledge you gathered from this life experience in the future; what perspective of the world did you gain?</p>

<p>well i hav a greencard so i wouldn’t be considered an int. student, but i m guessing that won’t change much :(</p>

<p>No, not a hook.</p>
