Multiple classes cancelled

I have this professor who has cancelled class 9 times this semester because him and his daughter keep getting sick. It’s becoming ridiculous. We’ve only had one exam, and that exam was already postponed by a week because of his absence. Our next scheduled exam is supposed to be next week but that’s obviously not happening. We now only have about 36 days left in the semester.
Has anyone had a professor who has done this? We’ve already reported him to the dean of the department but are waiting on a response to the matter. Since this is a junior/senior level class, completely cancelling it and receiving no credits is not an option since most need this class to graduate this year and it’s only offered in the spring.
My first test grade wasn’t ideal, so I’m concerned on how this will turn out.

Depending on the class perhaps someone could suggest giving students a chance to do an extra research paper/project or something to count as a second midterm? Perhaps the focus of could be a topic that wasn’t covered due to the professor’s absences?

Also be sure that your class does not have an interdepartmental final since you would have had far fewer classes to cover material than your counterparts taking the same class with another professor.
