Hi, I am looking at applying to a college ED which I know someone else is applying too. If I am much more qualified than that person, (GPA, test scores, EC) then will this have any effect on my chances?
Thanks

It may possibly have an effect but applicants are not just rated on objective factors so do not assume you are the “better” candidate.
My advice is that no one should decide whether or not to apply, ED or otherwise, based on what other people are doing. If that college is truly your absolute favorite and there are no other reasons against going ED, such as needing to compare FinAid awards, you should do it.
Maybe you will both get in, maybe neither, maybe just one of you…let the college decide. There may be others applying that you just don’t happen to know about, and if you decide to instead apply ED somewhere else, there might be other applicants at your school applying there too.
No. They don’t choose kids within schools but across schools. It won’t affect your chances.
You also have no idea of the true details if someone else’s app. You don’t know about their essays, rec letters, activities outside school, full ethnic background, financial situation, etc. So you don’t really know if you would be a preferred candidate compared to them. Run your own race. Don’t worry about anyone else.
