Multiracial- Don't know what to apply as

I’m wondering what ethnicity to put on my application in order to maximize my chances of getting into a top-tier university.
I’m half-white and half-asian, so here are my options:

  1. Apply as a white person.
  2. Apply as a white and asian person.
  3. Apply as an asian person.

I don’t find a sense of personal identity with either race so it is more of a question of what gives me the best chance than what I identify with.

Well it would be factually incorrect to put the other two, so I would check off #2. Otherwise I would just leave the question blank

^^that is incorrect, if you are perfectly allowed to pick one. OP, you decide–it is self identified and as long as you are not misrepresenting it is find to pick one. Look at the racial makeup of the student body, if you are applying to a Midwest LAC I’d put Asian. If you are applying to Ivy you could put White. But I’d pick 2. I don’t think many of the choices helps or hurts in most cases, it just depends on where you are applying. CA student to UC? Doesn’t matter.

Also just to add that 2. puts you in the smaller pool of applicants.
